Byron Bay is located on the most easterly point of the East Coast of Australia. Historically Byron Bay was used as a base for the Dairy Farms and a Whaling Station in the region.
Since then Byron Bay has developed into a township with a relaxed and easygoing lifestyle. The area boasts music festivals, arts, alternative health therapies, surfing, amazing beaches, lush hinterlands and an iconic lighthouse that is still in use today.
From August to October each year visitors and locals alike can view the passing humpback whales on their migration north. Cape Byron being a marine national park is an important habitat for many dolphins, fish, seabirds and plants. It is also significant within the culture of the local Aborigines.
